One chapter of my new book, Tradestream your Way to Profits, was devoted entirely to the subject of expert investing networks.
These communities of investors come in 3 different flavors:
investing marketplaces: these are typically open communities where individuals and professional investors [...]
eBay of investment advisors, kaChing announced today that they’re providing servicing of IRA plans. That means that someone with an IRA of at least $10k and the desire to have kaChing investment managers take a crack at managing his portfolio, can now do it.

kaChing continues to expand its asset advisory marketplace by broadening its offering a turn-key backoffice solution. It’s a smart move for the firm: Connecting retail investors with smaller/newer asset managers requires a broad service offering that helps some of these smaller managers with the resources required to run their businesses.
Launched as kaChing Pro, the service [...]

We’ve written for a while that for certain purposes, Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) are a better mousetrap.
As Mutual Funds 2.0, ETFs have introduced:
new ways to implement investing ideas (eg. country exposure to Poland, Chile, etc.)
made existing ideas easier to trade (leveraged long and short funds, buy-write strategies)

Piggyback investing is the art/science of building portfolios based on mimicking the stock picks of some of the best superinvestors — asset managers who have exhibited long term market-beating results.

I’ve been thinking about what the future has in store for investors and I’d like to use this post to help clarify my thinking. Essentially, I’d like to hone in on what 2010 portends for online finance. I’m looking for some broader trends, as well as some company-specific prognostication.

December has been an action-packed month for kaChing, one of my favorite asset management startups and a solid member of the New Rules of Investing. The hot startup scored another round of funding, further lending support to their model’s success. The small tech firm essentially incubates fledgling asset managers through stock picking games, allowing users [...]

kaChing announced yesterday (rather quietly — strange) that they have indeed — after months of discussion — launched their investment management arm. What that means is that investors can open up an Interactive Brokers account to mirror the activities of portfolio managers on kaChing.
From board member Andy Radcliffe who posted on kaching’s blog yesterday:
We now [...]

Today’s post is a guest post from Valuecruncher, a stock picking service that analyzes individual stocks via discounted cash flow analysis. We also like the accompanying blog which highlights the site’s methodology and applies it to specific stocks. You can read more about the methodology here and how it works in practice.

Because it has broader appeal, we spend a lot of time thinking and talking about the demand side of financial social media. Investors can use tools like following their favorite investors portfolio moves on Covestor or crowdsource ideas on Piqqem or use AlphaClone to create the same portfolio Warren Buffett has.
There are other great tools, [...]
